When will ignorant peorple learn to be civilised !!?

A Taliban firing squad executed a young Afghan couple for trying to elope, it emerged today.

The woman, 19, and the man, 21, were accused by the militants of immoral acts and a council of clerics decided that they should be killed, said Ghulam Dastagir Azad, the governor of the south-western province of Nimroz.
The two had fled their homes and hoped to travel to Iran, but their parents sent villagers to bring them home, said Sadiq Chakhansori, the chief of Nimroz' provincial council.

Riflemen in the remote district of Khash Rod shot the man and woman with AK-47s yesterday.

In remote and dangerous regions of Afghanistan, Taliban fighters operate what are sometimes referred to as shadow governments, where militant leaders serve as government officials and run their own police units and pseudo court systems.
The Afghan government has no access to the remote region where the two were shot.
The Taliban movement ruled Afghanistan from 1996-2001 and put in place harsh social rules that forbade unmarried men and women to talk or meet in public. Women were not allowed out of their homes without a male relative, and girls could not go to school.

Taliban fighters have widened their influence the last three years and now control many remote districts in Afghanistan where there are not enough US, Nato or Afghan forces to establish a permanent presence.

Well, wtf is going on man ? Like what FD (Class 95) commented, y would the parents bloody give her to the Talibans !!? I understand it is still a very conservative culture there; but what worst than to be betrayed by the closest kin ?

Let me proclaim that I do not know Islam like the back of my hand. However, I do know that it is very interpretive religion, meaning many things are stated in a very generic way such that people would view it in different light, that’s why there is a variance in the Islam teachings here and their fellow counterparts in Middle East. Take alcohol for example, I remember an Algerian colleague telling me that the Koran says it will cloud people’s judgments (which is very true if you drink too much), but it didn’t ban alcohol from her believers. For my colleague’s case, he chose not have take alcohol. That is his choice, and I respect that, but it doesn’t necessary mean alcohol is bad and evil you know.

He also told me that the Koran tells Muslims to understand other religions and respect them. I didn’t do any research on the claim, but I truly believe that any religion will ask their believers to do good things, why not Islam ? And taking people’s life against their will is definitely not one of the good things ! What’s more, the couple who eloped just tried to have their own life, and be away from all the social constrains. They didn’t harm anyone or did anything evil !!

Don’t get me wrong, some of the nicest people I met are Muslims; it’s just these handful of extremist cultures that irks me because not only are they ignorant, many of them are misguided by people who use religion to sought their political motives… just like the Talibans. They only know how to instigate people for their gains, actual things like making people’s life better… they know nuts !!

Haiiz… very sad ah.

Kudos to the Muslims here, they don’t do these kinda crazy shits !
