A Can of Worms....

A fren just open a can of worms yesterday, my can of worms actually...

The gist of the whole conversation revolves around a theme I call "Pre-empting the Sins". It was brought to my attention that as long as something has been pre-empted or anticipated, it is totally justifiable. Take for example, A pre-empted B that he was to slap B on the head; and slap B he did. So, for "sounding out" beforehand, slapping B is not wrong at all ! Or is he ?

Take another example, a gf pre-empted a bf that she had a hot persuer... and the guy did nothing; so the girl left... so much for being loyal hey... so does that make any sense that the girl thinks she played no part in the breakup ? Yeah, perhaps the guy could have done something afterall, but come on.... it's like why even bother saying this shit if the girl wasnt interested in the persuer at all ?

Well done... as far as I am concerned, it is just another example of the irresponsible human being justifying his/her own misdoing with an equally nonsensical justification. And it really makes wonder how such immoral acts can come from someone I tot i knew pretty well back then... and I was the last person to know about it... talk about respecting people....

As much as I hate to say this, I shall reiterate something I left behind before moving on:

"You reap what you sow... You deserve it !"

Weekly Wrap up....

Dex said it so well... "... looks like non-working day for you also busy !"

hahaha

He commented that when I told him I was out everyday since Xmas eve eve (23 Dec 2009). Had it not been that I am not feeling well today, I would have been at Kallang Indoor Stadium @ Singapore Idol Finals to wrap up the week.

And It might well be the same case for the next week; I will be out pretty often.

That kinda sums up my whole year seriously; busy spending time and hanging out with my family, old and new friends, and that's what I enjoy doing ... so it doesnt really bother me... oh that reminds me... needa start doing the annual New Year Resolution...

Or like Ziping said... no need to resolute... cos the more you resolute... the less is done...

Hahahaha

Have a great week ahead people !!

I is weak leh... hahaha

My finger is still pretty weak from the sprain last Sunday.... somehow I just cant find the injured spot siah... weird... dunno whether it can heal in time for bball Sunday....

To make matters worse... my ear bones hurt from chewing probably cos of too much heaty food... hmmm

I think I shall have an early Xmas night... with lotsa water before that...

Hope everyone had a great Xmas !!

=)

Too many cooks spoil the broth... maybe ?

Comments from colleagues:
"I think you are the kind of lover that thinks for yourself first... "
"You are just picky lah..."
"I will be disappointed if you dont go after ___ "

Drey commented: "You just havent found the right one... take your time... career first"

The the various "I intro ___ to you ok... ?"

Hahaha seems like ppl around me cant wait for me to get hitched leh... giving me all their analysis and advice... but I found Drey's comments most to my thinking now....

And.... the more that I think abt it, the more I realise maybe I am happier being single for now. For some reason(s), I just feel that I am not ready .... could be that suddenly one more person into my life makes it somewhat awkard for me as I am pretty contented with life .... another reason could be that I dont even know where I will be or what I will be doing next year, let alone think of such long-term stuffs....

Or simply put, perhaps I just havent found the "right" one....

Mind you, office romance, close fren romance, fren's sis romance (yes, I really mean it) - All no no for me... hahaha too much repercussions should there be any problems... and I have a phobia of facing these niggling nuisance(s) which could have been prevented in the first place... why should I eat and shit at the same place u know... lolz...

Afterall, prevention is better than cure any day !!! =)

Food for thought yeah...

=)

My Busy Days... hahahaha

For some reason, I have been very much occupied by activities, and I could hardly grasp for breath these days… Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely a good thing to be meeting new people and listening to their different experiences, just that it wears me out sometimes when I have too many things squeezing into one period of time and then quiet for the rest of the time… this inconsistencies makes crazy sometimes… hahaha Sometimes I really wish I have 48 hrs a day instead of 24 ...

Anyhow, just a recall of things (if I even remember clearly):

It started with the NACE presentation at NUS on Thursday. It was a good presentation by Robert on coating, and my colleagues and I had some time chilling at the Staff Club before heading home.

Tuboscope Dinner and Dance on Friday, where I was made a clown… lowest pt in my life lo… tsk tsk. But still great fun, no doubt.

Sat: Met up with kel, wy, hf, slee for KTV. Ended the night with some chilling out at Mt Faber… not a bad place given the windy and scenic atmosphere.

As usual, bball workout on a Sunday morning, followed by meeting Grace and Keet in town. Ended the night with meeting up the November babies for dinner at Marche (Vivocity).

Jingle came back from NYC; so we had a family gathering at Grand Copthrone on Monday. My aunt was busy bugging us about slimming down, especially my tummy…. Hilarious if you ask me…

Chilling session yesterday with my colleagues, followed by meeting an “old” fren. Not exactly old because we hardly knew each other back in school. But, I think we had an enjoyable time; it’s been a long while since I had ice cream cake for supper.

Yeah, I can get home early today and rest.

Watching the Bulls makes me EMO sometimes... hahaha

As much as I am a Bulls fan, i concede...

They are really a disappointment man... the early good start just fizzles out like a can of coke decanned too long... haiiz... And this vicious cycle just goes on and on and on and on...

A very promising post season ends with a horrible and absymal new season... ^^

Lowest point in time to lose to the Nets (Nets just broke the NBA record for the most number of straight losses !!!); come on...

Every year the same high hopes and every year the same kinda nonsense ...

When will they ever be competitive... ??

hmmm....

Stand Chart Run 10KM

Just ran 10km for Stand Chart Run 2009 with Ling and Drey. Thank goodness, the weather was cool and there wasnt much sunlight...

The run started quite okay... only thing that bothered me were my legs telling me to stop, especially when I tried running up Benjamin Sheares Bridge.

When I first saw the bridge from far, I thought "wtf... u $%^&, I will get over you..." But 2 min up the slope, I decided to walk, lest my legs give way when reach the top and start tumbling down the bridge... hahahaha

Not that it is something great, but it's a start nonetheless... next run will be 21km.

By Stand Chart 2010, I hope to do a marathon (42 km), and then tick off that item from my bucket list... hahaha

And, well done to all the people who participated this year man... !!

To the gang: let's do it again next year shall we ?

A Curse from Yours Truely....

I always believe religion to teach people good things, and that different religions are like different branches while they all report to the same divine being up there.

So for that bugger who claim my car insurance when it was clearly his fault... bear this curse:

"your day of awakening will come... or your retribution(s) will come one day... and I hope that when my god reflects to ur god about your sins, you will sure kana lor... And best, when ur god knows about these sins only through my god, ur god will lose face and end up giving you 2X jialat jialat for not declaring them earlier lah !! "

Hahaha

*Giggling*

Something so random just came through my head eh...

When is the Right Time ?

I attended Kimberly and Guosen's wedding dinner over the weekend. And below was one of my conversation with a fren:

Louis: I think they got married too young le...
me: Really ? why ?

Louis: nah 26/27 is too young le...
me: then wats the ideal age ?

Louis: 40 ?? tsk tsk
me: .....

I knew he meant it as a joke... but this got me thinking ... so how do you know you are ready to get married ?

I used to think that when I get attached to someone like she is part of my life already, I will have the marriage thought(s), which I did then. But over the years, events changed my perspectives totally man...

Now, i think that the day I will get married is the day I realise that I cannot live without that someone... and not that the r/s is so stable and it becomes a habit or equivalent.

All in all, marriages and engagement are important decisions pple make to get to another essential stage of their lives, and they are most definitely happy occasions... a handful of my frens and colleagues are getting hitched recently... so all the best to them and may they have blissful marriages ! So happy for them ! =)

As for me... I need to at least have that prospective someone before thinking any further... lolz

So back to that question of when is a good time, I really dunno...

P.S: Let's all not learn from the couple in the comic strip shall we ? Tsk tsk

Ben Foster fumbles yet again....

Let's see the list of recent keepers at Man Utd:

Made it Big:
Peter Schmeichel
Edwin Van Der Sar

Strengths: Commanding; Excellent Shot Stopping abilities

Not Successful:
Massimo Taibi
Fabien Barthez
Tim Howard
Ben Foster

Strengths: Very Agile; Great Arial abilities

Conclusion:
Great Man Utd keepers just need to be commanding with great shot stopping abilities; a commanding general at the defense, and be the last man to prevent any easy tap-ins. Of course, they are most unlikely to prevent long range shots, but how many times do one see long range efforts go in ? More often than not, long range efforts are bound to go in if they are on target...

So for Ben Foster, I am really skeptical if he makes it big in the team...

And Igor Akinfeev seems like a good replacement for VDS... from the one two games i watch him play

Well... what do I know... if I am that good, I would be a managing the team already... hahahaha

A$$hole me is mean... wahahahaha

Sis: Why dont you watch Singapore Idol ?
me: I seldom watch American Idol, let alone Singapore one... haha

Sis: why not ?
me: American Idol nicer lah... really...

me: As for our Idol, they should look for something to do lah...

Oops, my acid tongue just started rolling.... again....
I think I am mean... and an a$$hole... hahaha

"Someone once told me that I wasn't good enough as I didn't have straight As and was not as good as them" Think Again....

Haha... suddenly wanna write about this after reading a fren's blog on good study results and success.

First, let me be defensive and say that I have my share of frens who has done very well in their studies... ranging from 1st class to 2nd upper honors and wat have you... I have a 2nd upper honors myself .... but I also have good frens who belong to the other permutations (graduate or not). So seriously... what's the bloody difference ? The alphabet letters ? hahaha

After working for 1 1/2 years, I think I have seen my fair share of capable and successful people who arent necessary A students when come to their textbooks. Let's be honest, some people are just not good in studying...period... that doesnt mean they arent gonna be successful at all hey...

To be fair, one should absolutely be credited for working hard/smart in attaining high grades in schooling days. And studying do help in every bit to mold one's determination and perserverence, not to mention intelligence. However, I choose to think that the good degree is something which could fall back on if necessary, but I really dont want to see the day I have to rely on it. Ultimately, I do not want to dwell myself into the realms of predicting my progression(s) with my degree.... hahaha

And I choose to believe I do not judge people by their educational level. Whether you are a sanitor or a manager, as long as you are professional in your work, I respect you. Otherwise, one can be the genius the world has never seen and yet I dont give a shit on what he/she can offer given the bad work ethics. Most of the times, this is how I learn lots from the veterans in my industry - through interacting with them.

At the end of the day, you are what you are made up - character, morals, education, background, etc. A good degree just gives more opportunities I admit... but not necessarily success.

Well, I guess all I am saying is that high education provides one with an additional key(s) to unlock his/her potential to greater things... but the choice to unlock is still on the key bearer.

=)

Flats Affordable ? Think again....

"Hence, the cost of a flat could vary from S$230,000 for a 3-room flat in Punggol to a S$530,000 for a five-room flat in Tiong Bahru. "

Tell me...which part of the lifting tell us that flats are AFFORDABLE ?

Let's just do some simple math shall we:

Say Mr A just graduated for a year. He earns 2700 (CPF included). So he gets back abt 2200 every month.

Assumptions: 13 month bonus, $0 savings, and spends 50% of the salary.

230 000 / (1100 X 13) = 17

Even if you factor in increment and interest from banks, I would say it takes about 12-15 years to save such a sum of money.

Conversely, with a partner it should take 8-9 years.

Moral of the story: It's always easy to open mouth and say things, cos it aint worth much.

I for one who have thought it would be more worthwhile to talk about such livelihood issues extensively instead of puny stuffs like cable TV.....

Monday, November 23, 2009

Cable TV that much of a Controversy ?

This saga of the cable TVs is getting really getting outta hand man… nonsense if you ask me.

I mean seriously… what’s the deal with SingTel outbidding the BPL / CL rights hey… ? Yeah, curse me all you soccer fanatics… hahaha hey I watch soccer too okay. My assertion comes from the realization that I am not willing to forgo the other programs that are on Starhub cable TV to switch to another one with only soccer and nothing else.

And to be honest, we generally don’t watch every match played on cable TV too. When the big matches are on, we might just end up watching it with buddies at a pub or something. When it’s a Sunday and Monday’s a work day, most of us won’t watch late night matches. So, there are really alternatives to not having a soccer channel yeah…

At the end of the day, another of my point here that this tussle for the channels is just NO BIG DEAL ! And having to bring it up to parliament to discuss about this is just pure ridiculous. This is another indication that Singaporeans just like to complain about the smallest and darnest things. Period.

Sometimes we really needa wake up our ideas lah... hahaha

Is it the END for Benitez ??

A picture tells a thousand words... period.

lolz

Derek Fisher - 34 min; 0 pts; 0-5 FG; 0-1 3pt; 0 rbd; 0 ast; 2 st; 2 PF

Wow...I rubbed my eyes when I saw the box score...

Erm... Derek Fisher played 34 min on the courts and he only managed 2 steals and 2 fouls ?

Never seen it in my life before...certainly an eye opener...

But give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe his defense was the difference becos Lakers won the game narrowly 103-102 against the Rockets...

Sometimes, shit just happens...

lolz

Random Early Week Rumblings....

It just doesn't feel good to condemn someone... but wat has to be done has to be done...

And what's done is done... so well.. at the very least I was objective and my remarks were not personal attacks. Most importantly, I didn't feel that I wrote anything wrong, and it's abt time something gets done....

So we'll see...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things have been pretty routine these days... work... home... rest... work again...

And it's a good thing to find a pattern in life. Now I go to office at 7 am to beat the morning traffic. Why the sudden change...well stay tuned.. when everything's settled I will write about it.

Have a great weekend pple !

09-10 Chicago Bulls

There seemed to be a surprisingly better aura in the locker room, and how that transcend into the regular season nobody knows, but at least it is a bright start with the momentum from last season’s playoff defeat against the Boston Celtics. With new additions that could very well surprise many this new season, the team could be maintaining their winning season for a marquee free agent in 2010, maybe Bosh, Amare, Wade, or unrealistically a certain freak by the name of Lebron James…. Hahaha

Starting Line-up:

C – Joakim Noah

Noah has bulked up 10 pounds this new season. With the added mass, he could hold his ground better against the bigs in the leagues. And with a recently developed left hand hook shot, he could well be a 12 ppg 10 rpg player for the team. But his shots are still ugly though… sorry to say that.

PF – Tyrus Thomas

This is TT’s contract year, meaning he could spiral his way up in the stats category, or simply sublime into the realms of unknown. I still think he lacks fundamental bball IQ; and I believe he is so hyped by his athleticism that he too often go for the spectacular(s) instead of the efficient decisions. Oh well, hope he improves enough to be a good trade bait… oops… haha

SF – Loul Deng

Marsh mellow Deng is in the house ! He has been injured for the most part of last season; he seemed to have lost some of quickness that has defined his role in the team. And it didn’t help him that he has bulked up in mind of posting more often against smaller SFs in the league. Another potential trade bait player for 2010 if you ask me… lolz

SG – John Salmons

John Salmons finished last season strong, especially after the trade from Sacramento. Able to play SG and SF positions, he offers versatility in the much depleted wing department given the departure of Clutch Ben Gordon. He should more that replace Gordon though, given his bigger built and better defense with somewhat equivalent shooting touch. Only thing that is missing from his game is the “clutchness” that Gordon used to provide.

PG – Derrick Rose

What’s there to say about the star player of the team ? He is projected by many to be the most improved player by the end of the season; and he should rightly be among the list to make it. He already possesses the quickness and athleticism that is second to none in the league. So if the stories about his improved shooting are correct, he would be a nightmare for opponents offensively. In addition, he is now officially the go-to guy in the team after Ben Gordon’s departure. Defensively, he should improve and that could relief some pressure from the defensive headaches that Gordon used to give.

Sixth man – Kirk Hinrch (G)

The tenacious Captain Kirk has always been one of my favorites ever since being drafted. Able to play both backcourt positions and some hard-nose defense on the wing, it is no surprise he was a catalyst for the hard time Celtics endured last playoffs. So, I think if the season turns out well for him, he could be a likely candidate for Sixth Man of the year.

Key Reserves:

Brad Miller (C)

His legs are probably gone; however, what he does provide is the experience and tutelage to the younger Fs in the team. Despite the slowness, he could still be an effective pick and pop center, which could potentially open the floor for players to slash in offensively. And who knows, he could potentially be a clutch player for the team, given his massive frame coupled with the ability to hit the 3.

Taj Gibson (PF/C)

Taj is the 26th pick from 2009 NBA Draft. He surprised many during the preseason with his array of shooting and bball IQ. However, he is still a little raw like most rookies, so he probably has to sustain through some pain in understanding his game. Nevertheless, he should provide a more than adequate replacement in the case where TT sucked.

James Johnson (G/F)

JJ is the 16th pick from 2009 NBA Draft. Although he spent the bulk of his time playing PF in college, his ball handling and passing skills makes him a potential for a future point forward role in the team. His post moves are also developed to the extent that he could see some minutes at the PF; but I reckon he should be a primary reserve for the G/F role given the lack of it in the team. He could shoot the 3s well, but he needs to develop a more consistent and reliable shoot to claim the F position. Also, one wonders when his rookie wall will show….

Jannero Pargo (PG)

Our old friend here is a “chucker”. I meant it in a mixed way. On one hand he will have lapses with his plays by shooting like he is a certain Iverson; on the other hand, he could provide instant offense and sparks when needed. If one could recall, he nearly won the series for the team at his last tenure in the playoffs against Wizards few years back. Nevertheless, he should provide some valuable offense and experience whenever needed.

Coach:

Vinny Del Negro

One year smarter and more experienced, the coach has spoken – the Defense has to improve. And in the preseason, it really seemed so; thus, we’ll just wait and see what happens. With a better defense and an explosive Derrick Rose to carry the team, the Bulls looks real dangerous on paper… on paper only…becos the ball is round… lolz.

General Manager:

Gar Forman

Gar replaced John Paxson in managing the team. John hadn’t left; he is now in a senior scouting role which he enjoys doing more. Don’t really know Gar in depth, but I do know he is a long serving employee of the organization, so he probably has more experience on how things work for the team. I will reserve my judgments for him after his next tests – Free Agents and trades from now to offseason 2010.

Presenting to you, the 09-10 Chicago Bulls !

Go Bulls !

Cheer up Post...

Losing someone close is painful... real painful esp when the flash backs start coming unknowingly, about the times that were spent together.... but I would think that someone hasnt really left becos she is always in one's mind.

So to a fren, it's a little cliche, still wat I am trying to say is that she had and always has been with you, whether physically or in your heart. And the best thing to do now is to pull urself together becos you know that she would want that from you; this is probably the least you could do for her.

=)

You know... sometimes men really dun talk about emo stuff to one another la..

So cheer up my fren!

Ignorant and Arrogant people are pitiful... hahaha

It irks me sometimes when I encountered people who are "big small" eyes.

Just becos we wear sloppily for supper, have a history of not doing that well academically, and doesnt have a seemingly bright future in government sector doesn't mean we arent successful in our own aspects.

Yes, if you guys recall, I ever mentioned "PERCEPTION IS REALITY"; but the stuff that I was rattling about pertains more to being professional for work, not staying professional for supper hey !!!??? sheesh.... furthermore, we've known one another for quite long liaoz... haiizz...

And to be honest, I do know of people who dress like a king, but earns like a pauper... so I really cannot understand where the "big small eye" should come in in the first place.

As far as I am concerned, if you are one of those people with big small eyes, I pity you !

One can be so ignorant and arrogant, to the extent of being such a failure in life...

I rest my case...

Been wanting to post my office pics ... but procrastination got the better of me... hahaha

Bad Attitude pisses me off....

I finished mapping 30 racks in 4 hours today... let's see

500 X 30 = 15 000 in a day !

To illustrate how big is a rack, this is a typical rack size in the yard:

And I dun even consider myself efficient since I only like spent 1/2 of the day, and the pipes are the most difficult lots.... then again... rightfully my whole day should be utilised to verify them instead of mapping....

So...so...so... why the hell cant I get 10 racks mapped in a week !!?
wtf is wrong with ppl ... inefficient... lazy or just cant be bothered ? Had it not been for the deadline which my boss is real anal about... I would have stormed into his office to change some parts of my team.

Hmm... attitude like this pissed me off... but oh well... luckily I found a gem in the shit who can help. I truely understood the meaning of an unsuitable person on a job... makes everything so much worse instead of easing the pressure...

Haiiiz...

My Story this Weekend....

Pretty Eventful Weekend.

Friday
Wine with YS and Weili at Dempsey (Wine Company). Not a bad place, you guys should try out, the ambience is nice and the food is also quite palatable. Wine of course is of a certain standard but relatively cheap. We has 2 bottles of German dessert wines.

After that had something on... which I am not telling... lolz

Saturday
Met up with my Pri School frens... no kidding... yesh primary school... which was like 17 yrs ago... hahaha that is how old I am already... hahahaha

Anyhow, topics kinda revolve around the usual - work, travel, marriage and housing... hahaha wat to do, issit a norm nowadays ? Esp like everyone is getting married and getting their flats and stuff...

Nevertheless, congrats to Manfred and Kimberly respectively !! =)

Sunday
The usual bball session with the guys... played particularly bad on the finishing end... could have come up better at the finishing moves give that I showed flashes of birlliance with my passes and penetration abilities... hahaha oh well... I guess it will come with time... I needa model my game to Kirk Hinrich's hahaha.

And my shot was rather erratic these days... dunno issit becos I have been playing golf abit or issit becos I haven been that on the ball in terms of training during the weekends and conscientiously coming for the bball sessions.

Oh well...

After bball... met up with Drey and Ling for brunch at Rider's Cafe (Turf City). Food was okay... which kinda puzzled me how come there is such a long queue to this place... everyone feeling EX-PATty like Drey is ? And we had to find the place since it was such a ulu place to begin with (Saddle Club)... wtf man ! hahahaha

Anyway, Ling is the official champion from today onwards ! Period ... =)

By the time I reached home around 3 pm, I dragged my battered body down to wash the car. It is so bloody dirty I tell ya... haven washed it since a month ago. Reason very simple - my workplace is so %$%$#^%$ dirty and dusty that it aint matter how hard I maintain... its gonna be dirty by the next weekends... oh well... part and parcel of my job... >.<

Finally after some napping and well-deserved rest... I have sometime for myself... heh... so here I am writing this blog...

Another week ahead... !

No monday blues... given how busy I anticipate I will be till mid Nov... hahaha

Oh right... laters !!
