When is the Right Time ?

I attended Kimberly and Guosen's wedding dinner over the weekend. And below was one of my conversation with a fren:

Louis: I think they got married too young le...
me: Really ? why ?

Louis: nah 26/27 is too young le...
me: then wats the ideal age ?

Louis: 40 ?? tsk tsk
me: .....

I knew he meant it as a joke... but this got me thinking ... so how do you know you are ready to get married ?

I used to think that when I get attached to someone like she is part of my life already, I will have the marriage thought(s), which I did then. But over the years, events changed my perspectives totally man...

Now, i think that the day I will get married is the day I realise that I cannot live without that someone... and not that the r/s is so stable and it becomes a habit or equivalent.

All in all, marriages and engagement are important decisions pple make to get to another essential stage of their lives, and they are most definitely happy occasions... a handful of my frens and colleagues are getting hitched recently... so all the best to them and may they have blissful marriages ! So happy for them ! =)

As for me... I need to at least have that prospective someone before thinking any further... lolz

So back to that question of when is a good time, I really dunno...

P.S: Let's all not learn from the couple in the comic strip shall we ? Tsk tsk

Ben Foster fumbles yet again....

Let's see the list of recent keepers at Man Utd:

Made it Big:
Peter Schmeichel
Edwin Van Der Sar

Strengths: Commanding; Excellent Shot Stopping abilities

Not Successful:
Massimo Taibi
Fabien Barthez
Tim Howard
Ben Foster

Strengths: Very Agile; Great Arial abilities

Conclusion:
Great Man Utd keepers just need to be commanding with great shot stopping abilities; a commanding general at the defense, and be the last man to prevent any easy tap-ins. Of course, they are most unlikely to prevent long range shots, but how many times do one see long range efforts go in ? More often than not, long range efforts are bound to go in if they are on target...

So for Ben Foster, I am really skeptical if he makes it big in the team...

And Igor Akinfeev seems like a good replacement for VDS... from the one two games i watch him play

Well... what do I know... if I am that good, I would be a managing the team already... hahahaha

A$$hole me is mean... wahahahaha

Sis: Why dont you watch Singapore Idol ?
me: I seldom watch American Idol, let alone Singapore one... haha

Sis: why not ?
me: American Idol nicer lah... really...

me: As for our Idol, they should look for something to do lah...

Oops, my acid tongue just started rolling.... again....
I think I am mean... and an a$$hole... hahaha

"Someone once told me that I wasn't good enough as I didn't have straight As and was not as good as them" Think Again....

Haha... suddenly wanna write about this after reading a fren's blog on good study results and success.

First, let me be defensive and say that I have my share of frens who has done very well in their studies... ranging from 1st class to 2nd upper honors and wat have you... I have a 2nd upper honors myself .... but I also have good frens who belong to the other permutations (graduate or not). So seriously... what's the bloody difference ? The alphabet letters ? hahaha

After working for 1 1/2 years, I think I have seen my fair share of capable and successful people who arent necessary A students when come to their textbooks. Let's be honest, some people are just not good in studying...period... that doesnt mean they arent gonna be successful at all hey...

To be fair, one should absolutely be credited for working hard/smart in attaining high grades in schooling days. And studying do help in every bit to mold one's determination and perserverence, not to mention intelligence. However, I choose to think that the good degree is something which could fall back on if necessary, but I really dont want to see the day I have to rely on it. Ultimately, I do not want to dwell myself into the realms of predicting my progression(s) with my degree.... hahaha

And I choose to believe I do not judge people by their educational level. Whether you are a sanitor or a manager, as long as you are professional in your work, I respect you. Otherwise, one can be the genius the world has never seen and yet I dont give a shit on what he/she can offer given the bad work ethics. Most of the times, this is how I learn lots from the veterans in my industry - through interacting with them.

At the end of the day, you are what you are made up - character, morals, education, background, etc. A good degree just gives more opportunities I admit... but not necessarily success.

Well, I guess all I am saying is that high education provides one with an additional key(s) to unlock his/her potential to greater things... but the choice to unlock is still on the key bearer.

=)

Flats Affordable ? Think again....

"Hence, the cost of a flat could vary from S$230,000 for a 3-room flat in Punggol to a S$530,000 for a five-room flat in Tiong Bahru. "

Tell me...which part of the lifting tell us that flats are AFFORDABLE ?

Let's just do some simple math shall we:

Say Mr A just graduated for a year. He earns 2700 (CPF included). So he gets back abt 2200 every month.

Assumptions: 13 month bonus, $0 savings, and spends 50% of the salary.

230 000 / (1100 X 13) = 17

Even if you factor in increment and interest from banks, I would say it takes about 12-15 years to save such a sum of money.

Conversely, with a partner it should take 8-9 years.

Moral of the story: It's always easy to open mouth and say things, cos it aint worth much.

I for one who have thought it would be more worthwhile to talk about such livelihood issues extensively instead of puny stuffs like cable TV.....

Cable TV that much of a Controversy ?

This saga of the cable TVs is getting really getting outta hand man… nonsense if you ask me.

I mean seriously… what’s the deal with SingTel outbidding the BPL / CL rights hey… ? Yeah, curse me all you soccer fanatics… hahaha hey I watch soccer too okay. My assertion comes from the realization that I am not willing to forgo the other programs that are on Starhub cable TV to switch to another one with only soccer and nothing else.

And to be honest, we generally don’t watch every match played on cable TV too. When the big matches are on, we might just end up watching it with buddies at a pub or something. When it’s a Sunday and Monday’s a work day, most of us won’t watch late night matches. So, there are really alternatives to not having a soccer channel yeah…

At the end of the day, another of my point here that this tussle for the channels is just NO BIG DEAL ! And having to bring it up to parliament to discuss about this is just pure ridiculous. This is another indication that Singaporeans just like to complain about the smallest and darnest things. Period.

Sometimes we really needa wake up our ideas lah... hahaha

Is it the END for Benitez ??

A picture tells a thousand words... period.

lolz

Derek Fisher - 34 min; 0 pts; 0-5 FG; 0-1 3pt; 0 rbd; 0 ast; 2 st; 2 PF

Wow...I rubbed my eyes when I saw the box score...

Erm... Derek Fisher played 34 min on the courts and he only managed 2 steals and 2 fouls ?

Never seen it in my life before...certainly an eye opener...

But give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe his defense was the difference becos Lakers won the game narrowly 103-102 against the Rockets...

Sometimes, shit just happens...

lolz

Random Early Week Rumblings....

It just doesn't feel good to condemn someone... but wat has to be done has to be done...

And what's done is done... so well.. at the very least I was objective and my remarks were not personal attacks. Most importantly, I didn't feel that I wrote anything wrong, and it's abt time something gets done....

So we'll see...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things have been pretty routine these days... work... home... rest... work again...

And it's a good thing to find a pattern in life. Now I go to office at 7 am to beat the morning traffic. Why the sudden change...well stay tuned.. when everything's settled I will write about it.

Have a great weekend pple !

09-10 Chicago Bulls

There seemed to be a surprisingly better aura in the locker room, and how that transcend into the regular season nobody knows, but at least it is a bright start with the momentum from last season’s playoff defeat against the Boston Celtics. With new additions that could very well surprise many this new season, the team could be maintaining their winning season for a marquee free agent in 2010, maybe Bosh, Amare, Wade, or unrealistically a certain freak by the name of Lebron James…. Hahaha

Starting Line-up:

C – Joakim Noah

Noah has bulked up 10 pounds this new season. With the added mass, he could hold his ground better against the bigs in the leagues. And with a recently developed left hand hook shot, he could well be a 12 ppg 10 rpg player for the team. But his shots are still ugly though… sorry to say that.

PF – Tyrus Thomas

This is TT’s contract year, meaning he could spiral his way up in the stats category, or simply sublime into the realms of unknown. I still think he lacks fundamental bball IQ; and I believe he is so hyped by his athleticism that he too often go for the spectacular(s) instead of the efficient decisions. Oh well, hope he improves enough to be a good trade bait… oops… haha

SF – Loul Deng

Marsh mellow Deng is in the house ! He has been injured for the most part of last season; he seemed to have lost some of quickness that has defined his role in the team. And it didn’t help him that he has bulked up in mind of posting more often against smaller SFs in the league. Another potential trade bait player for 2010 if you ask me… lolz

SG – John Salmons

John Salmons finished last season strong, especially after the trade from Sacramento. Able to play SG and SF positions, he offers versatility in the much depleted wing department given the departure of Clutch Ben Gordon. He should more that replace Gordon though, given his bigger built and better defense with somewhat equivalent shooting touch. Only thing that is missing from his game is the “clutchness” that Gordon used to provide.

PG – Derrick Rose

What’s there to say about the star player of the team ? He is projected by many to be the most improved player by the end of the season; and he should rightly be among the list to make it. He already possesses the quickness and athleticism that is second to none in the league. So if the stories about his improved shooting are correct, he would be a nightmare for opponents offensively. In addition, he is now officially the go-to guy in the team after Ben Gordon’s departure. Defensively, he should improve and that could relief some pressure from the defensive headaches that Gordon used to give.

Sixth man – Kirk Hinrch (G)

The tenacious Captain Kirk has always been one of my favorites ever since being drafted. Able to play both backcourt positions and some hard-nose defense on the wing, it is no surprise he was a catalyst for the hard time Celtics endured last playoffs. So, I think if the season turns out well for him, he could be a likely candidate for Sixth Man of the year.

Key Reserves:

Brad Miller (C)

His legs are probably gone; however, what he does provide is the experience and tutelage to the younger Fs in the team. Despite the slowness, he could still be an effective pick and pop center, which could potentially open the floor for players to slash in offensively. And who knows, he could potentially be a clutch player for the team, given his massive frame coupled with the ability to hit the 3.

Taj Gibson (PF/C)

Taj is the 26th pick from 2009 NBA Draft. He surprised many during the preseason with his array of shooting and bball IQ. However, he is still a little raw like most rookies, so he probably has to sustain through some pain in understanding his game. Nevertheless, he should provide a more than adequate replacement in the case where TT sucked.

James Johnson (G/F)

JJ is the 16th pick from 2009 NBA Draft. Although he spent the bulk of his time playing PF in college, his ball handling and passing skills makes him a potential for a future point forward role in the team. His post moves are also developed to the extent that he could see some minutes at the PF; but I reckon he should be a primary reserve for the G/F role given the lack of it in the team. He could shoot the 3s well, but he needs to develop a more consistent and reliable shoot to claim the F position. Also, one wonders when his rookie wall will show….

Jannero Pargo (PG)

Our old friend here is a “chucker”. I meant it in a mixed way. On one hand he will have lapses with his plays by shooting like he is a certain Iverson; on the other hand, he could provide instant offense and sparks when needed. If one could recall, he nearly won the series for the team at his last tenure in the playoffs against Wizards few years back. Nevertheless, he should provide some valuable offense and experience whenever needed.

Coach:

Vinny Del Negro

One year smarter and more experienced, the coach has spoken – the Defense has to improve. And in the preseason, it really seemed so; thus, we’ll just wait and see what happens. With a better defense and an explosive Derrick Rose to carry the team, the Bulls looks real dangerous on paper… on paper only…becos the ball is round… lolz.

General Manager:

Gar Forman

Gar replaced John Paxson in managing the team. John hadn’t left; he is now in a senior scouting role which he enjoys doing more. Don’t really know Gar in depth, but I do know he is a long serving employee of the organization, so he probably has more experience on how things work for the team. I will reserve my judgments for him after his next tests – Free Agents and trades from now to offseason 2010.

Presenting to you, the 09-10 Chicago Bulls !

Go Bulls !
