Thanks for the best years - Captain Kirk Hinrich !

It's pretty sad... but estatic nonetheless - Kirk Hinrich is officially traded to the Washington Wizards along with the Bulls' 17th pick for nothing (aka salary cap). And nodoubt, cleared the cap space for 2 marquee free agents, they did !

Did anyone smell Derrick Rose, Lebron and Bosh trio ? Or even if Lebron decided to stay and rot in Cleveland (I think highly unlikely) ... how about Derrick Rose, Joe Johnson and Amare Staudamire trio ? I meant all is rumor and talks now, but face it, Bulls' are the best destination for all the of them - fan base, money, reputation, good role players, great coach, and best of all we already have a franchise player in Derrick Rose, so we need just one (best 2) to be up there with the championship teams man.... hahaha

Okay back to Kirk Hinrich, i have never been short of praise for this guy pple... he may not be the best PG for the team, or he might not have been the best player out there, he is kinda like the jack-of-all trades veteran today - shoot, pass, wing defense, playmaking, rebound, leading the team, even succumbing to playing SG towards the end of career in Bulls' uniform. Yeah, pple say his pro actually became his archille's heel since he really didnt excelled in any category and neither did he end up bein an All-Star... Ah Shun asked me why I like him so much, this is why :

*qouted from a news article*

He didn't sugarcoat anything. He also never cheated fans from effort.

Hinrich is one of just 22 Bulls to play at least six full seasons with the organization. But he always seemed to be involved in rumors and, during an interview with the Tribune in October 2008, summarized his feelings well.

"I love Chicago and I love the organization," Hinrich said. "When you think about all the guys I got drafted with in 2003, I mean, T.J. Ford is on his third team. I feel fortunate to be able to play for one team.

"It helps you stay grounded, helps your confidence. I feel fortunate things have worked out where I've been able to stay here. But just because I've been here five years, tomorrow I could be gone. That's just the business end of it."

His passion, humilty, loyalty, professionalism and heart for the game is what made me his loyal fan !

All the best Kirk, you will always be remembered as Captain Kirk !

Go Bulls !!

Bo Xim to the max....

I hate it when conversations are left hanging sometimes... even on the cyberspace.

Case 1
AAA: YC, meet up soon eh !
YC: Where and when ?

*silence*

1 day later...
YC: Didnt you say meetup ? Any preferences

*silence*

1 week later...
YC: So any convenient time between now till next month ?

*silence*

Presently, the status is still pending...

Case 1
YC: Hey... I am back... hows it going ?

*silence*

2 days later...
YC: Did u get my msg ? I wanna ask u ...... blah blah
YC: Do let me know if you have any info yeah..

BBB: Hey YC, been real busy and havent got the time to reply... sorry... the info...blah blah blah

See the difference pple ?

It's Case 1 with no heart, and Case 2 with one.

I can totally understand that we are all busy, as busy as we can be... but is it really that tough to reply with an sms ? Especially so when the other party is the initiator of the conversation.

It's a whacky world out there with wierd personalities lah... haha

Asian and South American WC ppl ?

The Asians made us all proud man... Japan and S Korea.

Even North Korea, despite being thrashed 7-0 in the Portugal match, they gave Brazil a run for their performance... I mean wat can u really expect from a team that is made up of mostly local talents with minimal to no international exposure so to speak ? Hahaha...

As for France and Italy, let's all blame it all on the climate, weather, food, ladies, distance... hahaha Jokes aside, it really seemed to me that the Europeans (England, Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Holland, Serbia, Spain...) are having a hard time in the tournament while it has been a breeze for the South American teams (Argentina, Uruguay, Chile). Wondering if it is really an external factor afterall...

Hmmmm... I still think Spain will win it, solely becos they are starting to warm it up, and they should peak by the semis... haha

The tale of the Argentina Malbec....

I brought back an Argentinan Malbec to Singapore... and I damn pleased lah... cos it was a great deal... 29 RM for a bottle of Malbec. Where else other than Labuan ? Haha

Y Malbec u may ask ?

Because it is not very common to find in Singapore; it's kinda like Carlifornian wines, they r hard to find in Singapore except the airport. Even when they are found, they are darn expensive ! So if I go through the airport, I would most defintely grab a bottle (with or without taxes) home.

Anyway I shant digress...I first tasted Malbec back in my Canada stint, and I think it has a very distinct oak taste which might not be well with every wine drinker. So far so good for me !!

=)
PS: Miss Teo, if you are reading... vino there damn cheap lah !! hahaha

Home Sweet Home !!!

It always gives me a sense of pride when I walk through the Singapore automated customs while i watch the rest queue at the other ones... hahaha

Singapore Changi Airport may not ahve the best service, but it sure has the most user friendly and efficient system for passengers !!!

Prince Charming or monk; Angel or Jiao Lang ?

Chanced upon these wise words:

骑白马的不一定是王子,可能是唐僧;
有翅膀的不一定是天使,可能是[鸟人]。

hahaha

=)

Cut short the Freaking Trip !!

I am planning to cut short the Labuan trip; hopefully I could head back by Tuesday, if not by Thursday, reason being :

1) My inspector is headed back to Singapore, so there is not much work to learn to begin with.

2) I dont want to be staying in an overseas office and add cost for the Tubo (expenses, car, etc.)

3) I didnt feel welcome at all in this place; now I know why pple were warning me about things in Labuan. (I shall not elaborate ...)

4) I wanna catch the Ops Manager and the other colleagues, and I wanna return stuff / brief them on the trip before I head out for my reservist.

And I would think that it would be a long while before I head back here. Reason being towards the end of this trip, I am starting to not see the point of coming over at all again.

Man... pple are wierd here lah...

So, we'll see how things pan out.

France is outta WC !!!

The French sucked big time in WC 2010; but, then again, they arent supposed to be in the tournament at all...

Shame on them that the opportunity was gifted to them and they screw themselves... hahaha

Oh well, god's will eh !

Spain deserves no pity !!

For all their domination on the pitch, they fail to score… what a whacky match (Spain vs. Switzerland). The swiss hardly touched the ball during the first 20 min of the match for god’s sakes ! In short, I blame Vincente Del Bosque (Spain’s coach) for his vital role in ensuring the defeat.

2 Wingers

When I saw Silva and Ineista running down their opposite flanks, I had a feeling that shit is about to happen. Look, Silva is a heavily left-footed left midfielder; by placing him on the right side of the pitch, the Spanish are basically constricting the game plan towards the middle of the field, i.e. Silva would most likely cut into the defensive most of the time since he can’t effectively cross with his right foot. The same applies to Ineista only that he is heavily right-footed. So the resulting is that nobody’s crossing the ball effectively, and thus, the attack was easily broken up by the Swiss defense everytime.

In my opinion, Spain should be spreading the defensive line and not constricting the line instead. They shot themselves on the foot by focusing everything through the center. The Swiss simply pack themselves in the middle and defend… Del Bosque got it so wrong !

Now, the story would have been different if Silva or Ineista are in the mold of Robert Pires. Pires was heavily right-footed but he is a predominantly left winger. His trademark crosses from the inside foot (right) makes him a nightmare for any full-back; hence his suitability for the left side. Apparently, neither of the Spanish wingers are close to that.

5 midfielders

During HT, Del Bosque should have brought on a more potent attack force, aka Torres ! I mean come on, when there are not many shots on target with 1 forward for 45 min, isn’t it pure logic to add in a striker to boost the attack ? Why stick with 5 midfielders to control the ball, but not score in the end ?

Defense

I confirmed, Pique is gay… hahaha. I mean seriously, how did he even lost his balance by colliding with the GK ? They should be communicating and not trying to make out during the match… tsk tsk. As a DC, it was a schoolboy error…The next to come was the icing on the cake, ever played STREET FIGHTERS pple ? Yeah… Pique got a scissors kick from an opponent, and then bam… GOAL for the Swiss !! Hilarious lah… the more replay I see, the more I think the Swiss player has street fighter blood in him… wahahahah

Well, kudos to the Swiss – They deserve the victory. As for Del Bosque, he deserves to be sack ! Haha

Extreme case of trust....

"Nobody can be trusted !"

Is that right ...

I chanced upon this statement, and I think it is too extreme. To start, we ought to ask ourselves if we can be trusted before doubt the trustworthiness of others... No one is perfect for sure, but at the very least we could all strive to be consistent in what we preach... heh

While coordinating and liaising with people in my daily work, I do agree that not everyone can be trusted; but if you aint gonna trust no one, either you work till you die by yourself or you end up getting no task accomplish. Trust is like a double edge sword sometimes, it can make or break one. So far, it has been generally good for me; I had my share of bad experiences, but they come and go, and I am not really bothered by them that much now...

"疑人不用, 用人不疑" (Historical Cao Cao)

At the end of the day, my policy is simple - trust a person till he proves me otherwise. And when I mean otherwise, I meant when the trust is broken, it will never get back to where it used to be. Like what Kel said of me, I forgive but I never forget... hahahaha

Still, I dont agree with the trust no one thingy...

Oh well... weird pple have weird thinking... hahahaha

Looking ahead from the past....

Saturday, was speaking to JL over the weekend, and we chanced upon this conversation of a fren in Houston back last year. She got married recently and we were looking at her wedding photos online...

I was kinda saying like we could have been together, if not for my indecisiveness back then and shit...

J: "hey she said she really liked u u know..."

me: "really ? Why didnt u say so earlier ?"

J: "she told me when I was half drunk la... only remembered it now that u mention this..."

J: "U should have gone for it man..."

me: "U know I am forever going to blame u then... hahaha"

^^

You know that kinda feeling ? It's like you were doing something right but somehow things didnt end up where it should be ... Dont get me wrong; I dont feel sore at all, on the contrary, I am very happy that she has found her true love, and I wish nothing but the best for her blissful marriage...

The only thing that got me thinking is that I was really indecisive back then. She probably didnt show that much of an interest as I could recall, but I could be wrong... as I was busy moving around in USA instead of staying put in Houston... so it was probably a main factor that we drifted apart.

Meanwhile, I wrote our fren an email to send my warmest congratulations and asked how she is, and I am glad that I did that - lover or not, she is definitely still a good fren !

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, there is no point in looking at the past in remorse of some sort; I enjoyed the Houston stint, and I never regreted my decisions whatever they were. Looking forward, I think I needa be more decisive and just say it as I feel... I tend to bottle too many things down my gut that this kinda situations resulted pretty frequently.

I am someone who needs the other party to "make" a commitment of some sort first before I made mine... and it could any sorts like making an obvious gesture(s) to declaring ... hahaha

Jokes aside... I am insecure by nature; and I fear the feeling of losing someone... but rightfully I shouldnt be - becos I am surrounded by great family, good frens and wonderful pple ! So, I want to chuck away the insecure part of me while maintaining my bright self - the one and only YC... hahaha

=)

For the Gang:
I found someone who has potential eh... tell u guys next time we meet yeah... we'll see where it leads to...

Btw.. I am not as lupsup as u guys say ok... and I know u guys know that... love y'all !!! hahaha

1/3 weeks in Labuan....

1 week in Labuan already...

Things are better than I have expected; but, the lifestyle here is a little too simple and slow for me bah... working stint yes,... but long term probably not... food is not as diverse as in Singapore, but they are still managable... people are pretty laid back here so it is not as hectic as Singapore...

Man... as I have always said, dealing with ppl is the hardeest of any job yeah... pushing for things to run smoothly requires tremendous efforts to liaise and work, and at the same time maintain happiness... and it really becomes extremely though when dealing all these fronts without "actual" power u know.... haiiiz... wat to do... thats the nature of my work...

Anyway I wont be going online so frequently for the next 2 weeks in Labuan becos the internet is not available in the new place we r headed to. Compound that to the erratic weather that makes TV viewing incredibly painful... I am in for a tough ride... haha

Only consolation is that I have free WC to view... all 64 matches in fact... so at the very least have something worthwhile to look forward to when I get back from work... Hopefully things will turn out better for my next stint come end July...

We'll see...

2 more weeks and I will be home !!

Hurray

World Cup 2010 - Waka Waka Eh Eh

I think the title explains it all... IT"S THE WORLD CUP FEVER !!!

My 2 cents worth... Spain will grab it...

Who says so... my Football Manager game... tsk tsk... Span vs England finals and Spain win on penalty... hahaha

But jokes aside, I think the Spain squad is the most balanced of the other teams, although they could add abit more steel into their midfield... esp DMC.

England is strong... no doubt, but I just dont see them so good with Ferdinand missing in action. His organisation of the defence would be sorely missed.

Germany and Holland seem like the enigma - you cant seem to pinpoint where they might end in the tournament.

Portugal & the South American teams, all flair and minimal defense if you ask me.

Asia & Oceanics... let's just say another time yeah... S Koreans sure can run and they just need a little more experience to make it big.

Finally Africa... all steel and minimal skills... hahahaha so what if South Africa has a 12 game winning streak ? hahaha

Anyway... now that I am in Labuan, I have free access to the World Cup 24/7 !!! Hurray !!

Bound for Labuan....

My flight to Labuan is in 10 hrs from now and honestly, I still dont have a good feel of what's gonna happen there...

I know I definitely wont be dwelling with so many pipes in that yard... but I am very weary of the people that i am about to meet, specifically some of the customers... to top that up, my grasp of the inspection services are still very low...

It's a great opportunity to learn and grow no doubt, just that I am not really used to "play by the ear" kinda mentality siah... hopefully all will turn out well...

I will be back in Singapore in 3 weeks time... 2 weekends to be specific... wahahahaha

Take care all you peeps !!

I shall try to convince my boss to send me in 1 week later so that I can be around for the BP dinner... otherwise... prob chang has to take my place... heh

And for sure, I am gonna miss Manfred's wedding... which is a little disappointing as I was pretty much looking forward to it...well life goes on eh...

You know, for the first time in my life, I really can shout :

"LET'S PLAY BY THE EAR EH !!!"

PS: Iphone users... we can still whatsapp eh... lolz

What's wrong with me ?

As if things cant get any worse... lottery strike again...

This time round best... had to cancel a last minute flight last minute... becos of stupid me. Of all the things to forget... can forget one of the most important one... my laptop ! The story was that I was activited at 10 am for a flight to Labuan at 4 pm in the afternoon only to realise my stupidity at the very last minute.

Like I was telling Lingz, I felt like I let myself and let my boss down you know.... it was this flight or nothing becos I was supposed to meet Hans in Labuan before he flew off to somewhere else. And becos of me, the project has to be postponed for another dunno how many days... I knew how urgent my boss wants it to get going...

So, I am really starting to think:

"Am I good enough, or have I set my expectation(s) too high for myself that I simply cant meet them ?"

Hmmmmm.....
